The bigger pads and calipers have little clips holding the brake pins in. The pins go thru the pads and then the clips hold them in.
The older smaller pads and calipers have a wire that goes thru the pins.
Yes you can add brake fluid to whats there, or you can drain and fill or have it flushed.
I personally believe in TOYOTA pads and rotors, many people have many opinions, your going to just have to find what works for you.
