I heard that back when I was a kid, in the 60's. I think it would work just as well if just sprayed the hot outside of the muffler. Otherwise you risk rusting out the muffler. Yeah, I know, the hot exhaust should dry it out but don't count on it. But, like the previous post, I think you should just drive it.
