Re: 2007 Avalon Transmission issue, engine surges
Ted,
This problem IS NOT limited to the 07. I have a 06 Avalon and have complained to my local dealer. I had it checked and was advised that the technician "found no problem when checked the error log". I was told by the idiot at the service desk "they all do that...." can you imagine that a Toyota representative had the stupidity to use an excuse by which Toyota had used against the U.S. manufacturers t build its reputation and market share? Where has the quality gone? For What It's Worth, my 2000 Avalon had transmission problems
I indeed agree there exists a safety issue whereas the venicle tends to lurch as it shifts down whil coasting to a stop - as evidenced by the jump in the tach. My 06 has 11000 miles on it and didn't exhibit the symptoms until last fall after is was in for service (@6000 miles). I suspect some good dubee upgraded the software to the latest and greatest version. Beyond the lurching, I expereince shift shock.
I does was fuel as well. Fuel mileage went throught the floor. I used to get 23mpg city and up to 33mpg hwy (calculated) on long trips. Afterwards I got 17mpg city and 24mpg hwy. Colds temp and the ethanol has an affect but shouldn't be that drastic.
Somehow we need to get Toyota's attention with this one - maybe a bunch of letters to the US DOT Safety agency? My last conversation with the service rep included a comment that" had I wanted to drive a car like a dodge I would have bought one at thousands of $$$ in savings. The jerk just laughed.
