Default Re: Bed covers

Retrax is a good cover. I have sold many of them and for the first time, there is a problem with one of them. The customer (Dodge Ram) bought the cover from me but installed it himself. He tells me that there are scratch marks on the cover caused by opening and closing the cover. He has not yet brought the cover to my shop. Now, Retrax advertises that when their cover retracts, it does not roll up upon itself, hence eliminating potential scratches. So, just guessing, either he did not install the cover correctly, something somehow got into the cannister, or perhaps there is a defect. Don't know yet.

Retrax is made of Lexan, which is a type of plastic frequently used in the airline industry. While it is durable, you can scratch it. But, you can scratch ANY tonneau cover. If you order a Retrax, I recommend you buy the optional lock cover (NOT shown below). It will keep junk out of the locking mechanism. The Retrax MAY partially cover your stake holes. However, you can order the cover with the stake holes cut out on the cover. (I'm not sure how that all applies specifically with the new Tundra though.) Other info: Retrax is not spring loaded like many other covers, there is no tailgate piece to install, and does not lock your tailgate when closed, which is no big deal since your tailgate has a lock anyway.
