I have a 1998 Tacoma
4x4 regular cab with the 4cyl engine. My A/C doesn't work. I have noticed that when I press the A/C button on the dash, the clutch attached to the compressor doesn't engage. I checked the voltage to the clutch and it is dead, with the A/C switch in both positions. Thinking that the problem might have been a bad A/C switch, I made the mistake of buying a new one (to the tune of $50), installed it and found that the problem still persists. I checked the fuse in the fuse compartment under the hood and it's ok. I also applied 12VDC directly to the clutch ant it actuates just fine. I'm thinking that there's something simple that I'm not aware of. Any ideas? Thank you.
