You could also purchase a PAC TR-7. I know you mentioned that you had some trouble with a few, have you tried the more recent batches? They come pre-programmed for Alpine products. It makes life much easier as it does the switching for you once the unit is powered up. I have had mine for 3 years now without a single issue. And it makes a much cleaner install as well.
