I read into HD bumpers in accidents and came up with some good information on the ARB bumpers about saving the frame with the use of the crush brackets and is what prompted me to buy mine, although ....
I will be bolting the brackets to A36 1/2" thick steel 8" - 9" long by 3.5" wide for my Body Lift (bolted to the frame to lift the whole bumper) and and then some 3/4" or 1" piece of high impact rubber between them and below on the exposed frame. using 10.9 Metric Fine thread bolts and washers, The inside bumper has alot of free play to allow this 1" - 1 1/2" worth of modifying and fit like its not even there.
It will be the same lifting as the side brackets 1/2" A36 Steel 4-5" tall x 4" wide using M8: Metric 10.9 Fine Thread bolts.
Rubber is known for absorbing kinetic energy AND deflecting it like a solid bouncing ball. Ever played bumper cars? Imagine what it would have done without the rubber on the outside when bashing into each-other? Basicly I will be eliminating the metal to metal contact points with the added cushion.
I'll be sure to post pics once I pick the metal up at onlinemetals.com (Seattle base company)
Then taking it to a machine shop to do the welds/cutting out of the holes being able to lift the ARB bumper just like a stock location.
