That is exactly what I did, burn an exact copy!! Disc to Disc with no success! But, that could have been the software I used. Regardless, I would stick with the Memorex Dual Layer DVD +R. It has worked for me and a few others out there. They sell them at Staples and Walmart. Verbatim is the other brand I heard that worked. The first discs I tried were Fuji's, which I tried disc to disc with and it failed.
