I am a great fan of your posts btw, and am wondering what features do you think were lost between firmware versions?
I didnt experience any issues with my AUX jack when I did the mod? Please
let me know what issues you had. I use my IPOD daily on it without any problem. Maybe this was an issue on other vehicles??

I posted the links to the other forums so that interested parties could visit those threads for more detail, especially those that are having trouble burning the DVD. The other threads have a lot more detail about burning DVDs and it seemed like a waste of effort for TS visitors to re-discover and re-post all of that info here.
I agree that it is a hassle to read through all of those other threads, however I have also learned most of what I know by investing many hours to google each subject and read many similar long threads. If people are having trouble then I suggest that they use the search function on this forum as well as google and then do the reading. This will save us all time in the end.
If you want to compare the functionality between the two versions then you can replace your 6.1 DVD, pull the fuse for 5 minutes, restart, and take pictures or notes of each 6.1 screen and function. Then go back to 5.1 and do the same and compare your notes. I had started to do this but decided to abandon it when I found at least 4 differences rather quickly, and because I didn't like having to stand on my left foot and do a rain dance to enable the bypass every time I started the vehicle. I also figured a new NAV firmware version would come out eventually with even more functions and I wouldn't want to stay with 5.1 just for the lame software bypass.
I honestly don't recall all the differences from 5.1 to 6.1 but I think several were related to the ASL sound quality and maintenance functions. Unfortunately I threw those notes out and I don't plan to invest hours documenting the versions since I don't plan to use the 5.1 anyway.
Based on
a post at another forum, Toyota has indeed released the 7.1 firmware which apparently contains some improvements including the removal of the very annoying "I agree" prompt. So I am upgrading to 7.1 as fast as I can test drive a vehicle that has it inside, and I will still be able to use my existing toggle switch to bypass any blocks that are controlled by the speed sensor. I just found some good info the other night so I am almost ready to build my speed pulse generator circuit. Details to follow when I get it done.
