In many years past, it was Illegal to do let alone not ethical.
But VERY VERY bad business in the end result.
And consumers of late are educated. Dealers don't have the luxury of "Blowing off' this type of customer any longer. The educated consumer became the majority of the client base in this day and age.

Well for the first time in the 12 years I have been with Toyota the Msrp went down and was in the customers favor. In some cases by up to $2000 I didnt think there would be much complaining about that. I have never seen it go up on a car that already had a sticker on it. This is the first time I have ever seen them lower it and send out new stickers.
The other thing I was saying was that some unethical dealers were marking them up above and beyond sticker and inflate extra options on them to make additional profit. While I know it is business. I dont condone such a practice and would not buy a car from a dealer like that either.
so I am pretty much in agreement with you
