Thanks guys
I'll try to give you a quick summary of the truck, broken down by section.
First, the engine and drive train: Heck, nothing really needs to be said here. 4.7 liters with the 5 speed auto. It runs super strong, it's quicker than anything else it's size, and is SOO DARN SMOOTH! For the first 1000 miles I babied it, and on a recent trip from OC up to central Cal, we managed to coax 22.1 MPG acording to the onboard computer (although I think it was really closer to 20 MPG though). Around town she's been getting about 17 MPG, but I'll check in a day or two and give you an update if you wish. The X-Reas suspension system is a real nice feature of the Sport model. It rides nice and firm on the highway, but not too stiff. Cornering is absolutely incredible for an SUV. It makes you feel like you can just rail the truck into a corner. Real confidence inspiring (this coming from me, who's last vehicle was a new Jetta - what a piece of crap!). Nice touch for Toyota to include 17" wheels and quality Dunlop tires. Kudos!
Now, the exterior: I bought the Sport edition, which means that I didn't get the color matched bumpers and fender trim (but did get the hood scoop - yes!). But the grey plastic isn't really too bad, especially on a Galactic Grey truck. It should be relatively easy to keep looking good, but I'm still trying to figure out what to use on it to keep it nice. Any suggestions guys? The fit and finish is typical Toyota - flawless - especially since all of the 4Runners are still being made in Japan. Another cool feature is the electronic closing feature on the rear hatch. You gently push it closed and the motor closes it completely. Oh yeah, the headlights and fog lights work real nice, too. Anyone know where to get yellow 9006 bulbs for the fog lights?
Lastly, the interior: Supurb! Well, almost. Everythings laid out really well and is flawless in fit and finish. The JBL sound system is awsome and is definately worth getting. The moonroof is the largest one I've ever seen, and the seats are supurb (manual adjustments with a power lumbar support)! The only two gripes I have are that the power window controls on the driver's side door are in a bad location and are a bit difficult to get to. They should have been moved up higher on the door panel and closer to the arm rest. Also, one would expect that a $33K vehicle should come equipped with vanity mirrors in the sun visors. NOPE! Needless to say, this is a real sore subject with the wife. I called Toyota Corporate and kinda made a complaint and they're going to see about getting me visors from a Limited with the mirrors on them. Even though it's a small thing, Toyota missed this little detail by a long shot.
All that said, I REALLY REALLY like the new rig, and am proud to be a Toyota owner again. I'll post some pictures of her this weekend.
