The time has finally come for me to finish my stereo project. I currently only have the
JVC KD-sh99 mp3 deck and a 10" powered bazooka subwoofer behind the drivers seat. I will be installing
Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 components for the front and nothing in the rear for now (and no, I didn't pay Crutchfield's ridiculously high prices). I might add some midbasses to the back later since the rear isn't that important in a truck. To power the front component set will be a
Phoenix Gold Tantrum 400.4 which will send 50watts RMS to each tweeter and each woofer so in total each pair will be getting 100watts RMS. I believe this is called bi-amping. My installer believes in using active crossovers instead of the supplied passive crossovers (anybody have any thoughts on this?).
I will be keeping my
JVC KD-sh99 mp3 deck which is awesome in of itself. Being able to have ~120 songs per cd is very nice! The red and blue leds on it are nice too.
As for the low end, I will be pulling out my bazooka and putting in a lesser known brand of subwoofer which is gaining respect more and more these days. It's the
Adire Audio Brahma 15" subwoofer. It currently has the highest one-way linear xmax of any subwoofer out now (xmax is the amount the cone moves in and out). It's built as an SQ (Sound Quality) sub but is also great in SPL (friggen loud). Be sure to check out the videos at the bottom of the Brahma page or here are the individual links to the videos:

Anyways, I will be getting a 15" and will have a custom box made to sit in the center of the back seat with the woofer facing forward. It will have enough room for two passengers to sit in the back as opposed to my current setup where two people can fit, but one of them has to sit in the middle because of the bazooka behind the drivers seat which makes it very cramped. I am choosing the 15" not because I want it to be really loud or annoying to other people, but I am a fan of really deep bass and like to feel my music and the only way to do that is with bigger cones. Plus, it looks nicer

. I have a Rockford Fosgate 800a2 amplifier which will be sending the sub 400watts on each of it's coils (it's a dual voice coil subwoofer) at 2 ohms. This will be putting 800watts into the sub although it is rated at 1600W RMS, 4800W peak.
I can't wait to get this stuff installed! Unfortunately my precious subwoofer is on back order all because of that silly dockworkers strike. I just received word today that the shipping company found the stuff and is currently being sent to Adire so supposedly the subs will be built and shipped out by December 6th.
Just thought I'd share my enthusiasm with you guys and maybe get some comments or suggestions before I get the actual install done.
P.S. Here is a little schematic of what the system will be (I was a little bored one night).
