Default Re: Transmission Fault Identified?

Took mine in last week Thursday, and was able to duplicate the rumbe strip. The ride along tech said he felt it the first time I tried to duplicate it, and seemed uninterested in my subsequent attempts. VERY nice guy, and we talked Toyota sports cars on the way back while I kept trying to dupe it at differtent speeds. The Service Advisor wanted to keep the truck, so I had them shuttle me back home (BTW this is Toyota of Plano).

I get a call from the advisor about 4 pm that same day, and he states that they have ordered a new tranny and torque converter. It will be shipped in Friday morn, and the truck should be ready Fri afternoon. No battle to get it, but no explanation either. When pressed, he stated that this action was reccomended by the Toyota Motor Co Tech's.

Anyway, I get a call Fri about 3:30 pm and the truck is ready. I have a friend run my by later that evening (8 pm) and pick it up. No charge, which is good, but the ticket says "REMAN TRANS". No one there at that time other than the cashier to question about it, so I take my receipt and p/u the truck. I looks good, and has been washed. Anyway, I pull out and it seems ok, but my first road on the way home is the tollway (65mph). The tranny definetly shifts different, very soft compared to the orig. The eng feels different too, but I attribute this to them pulling the battery cable off, and the computer resetting. 5 min later I am on secondary roads and guess what?? I can duplicate it still!!

When I got home, I changed clothes and slid underneath with a flashlight to look at the install. Tranny 'looks' to be brand new, all the brackets are reattached and harnesses appear to be routed as from the factory.

I left a msg with my Service Advisor and he called Mon to say bring it back in.

Today is my first day off, but I am hesistant to bring it back. What new thing are they planning on finding by having the truck there? It's doing the same thing as before. I really don't like the thought of the truck being pulled apart again, as I have only owned it for 3 weeks. If it doesn't get worse, I am thinking about waiting until a 'good' fix has been identified.

BTW, my 'rumble strip' issue seems to be different than most on this forum that I have been reading. Mine occurs during light to medium acceleration btw 35 - 45 mph in 6th gear when the torque converter unlocks. This varaies between mild, to almost rattling the dash when I was towing.

I really, really love this truck, so I hope some fix can be found.
