Then explain to me why GM will not re-design the injectors in the 2000- 2003 Duramax motors. They have replaced thousands of them...so much so, that they extended the warranty on the injectors from 5 years, 100K miles to 7 years, 200k miles. After 2003, no real issues with injectors...so they know how to fix it, but instead put a band aid on it (in my case...two more years as I would not hit 200K miles before the end of 7 years). FYI...injector replacement is about a $5,500 operation. I had it done under warranty at 30K miles on my 03 DMAX, and it was about due for another set at 65,000 miles when I sold it after 4.5 years of ownership. IMO, when you buy a truck that you expect to last a long time, and the manufacturer has a MAJOR problem with it, they are taking care of their customers when they fix the problem. They are putting a cost cutting band aid on it when the extend the warranty a couple of years....and then fight you tooth and nail on replacement under that extension. The prospect of a $5,000 repair bill every 30K to 40K miles was not my idea of "being taken care of".

If you would like to read about it...go to Diesel Place - Duramax Diesel Discussion Forums, and do a search in the 1st Generation DMAX forum for injector. After you read a few hundred threads by folks getting screwed over the GM, you will start to get the idea....

Call me bitter, but I did not like the way I was treated by GM....not one little bit.
