Default Re: DIY: Oil Change w/ pics. & Reset Maintenance Required Light

I just changed it today for the first time as well, ~500 miles on the truck. Great "How-To" post, thanks!

1. The 65mm 14 flute metal wrench kept slipping so I put two paper towels in it and it helps grab. Spent 30 minutes trying to loosen it before I figured that out.

2. The oil splashed all over the place. My suggestion is to take a 2-liter bottle and cut it and use it over the drain plug to stop it from splashing.

3. 7 quarts does not fill it completely.

4. My filter had a lot of metal shavings in it.

The next time will be a lot simpler. Anyone know if the cartridge type filter we have has any benefit over the conventional metal can filter?
