I know suspension makes some difference, but for me, the TOWING capabilities are primarily determined by the size of the engine, and how much the truck weighs, all by itself...

Extra cooling and charging capacity but I think the substantive difference is the class IV receiver on the towing package versus bumper mounted ball.
