Mechanical LSD's don't have buttons to activate them, so no LSD.

Good write up but I wouldn't use bricks under a jack even if I did follow it up with a jack stand. Use some wood like a good pine that will give some but not tend to break. A few 2x8's of some kind a good bit wider than the base of the jack would be good.
