Umm... yeah...

A fullsized SUV versus a midsized truck? How about this for a comparison. Lets put the Tacoma which can tow 6000 pounds, versus the Ridgeline's 5000 pounds. Or the Dodge Dakota that can tow 7000 pounds. Both can tow and haul more in the bed, but are they just as versatile? Or better yet, compare it against other mid-sized SUVs. Hmm. That's not a bad idea.

It does have SUV characteristics, and even is assembled on the Odyssey assembly line. It shares similar characteristics, but has it's own frame that the body-on-frame mounts too. The build is a hybridization of a truck and car trying to combine the best of both worlds. You hit the nail on the head calling it a SUV with an open rear end. But then again if you check the lineage of our modern trucks you might be surprised as to where they came from, and what they were based on.

As for that towing "issue..."

And as for WHY someone would choose a Ridgeline over, say, a Tacoma.
