Another question. Is anyone worried about voiding warranties from splicing this device onto the wires? Like if something goes wrong with the NAV unit, etc, that they won't honor it?

Remember that connectors, pins, and wire colors can be different for each vehicle and also depending on the options which were factory installed. The only way to be sure of which connector / pin / wire to use is to check the wiring diagram for your vehicle.
I am not worried about warranty since I was very careful when tapping into the wires behind the NAV unit. When you remove my NAV unit you can't really see anything different at all. The new wires are hidden and wire-tied with the rest of the factory wires and the splices are hidden well too. Even if the dealer found the wires or my toggle switch panel then I would just set all the switches to factory mode and prove to them that my mods were not causing the warranty problem. I really think the chances of a factory defect in the NAV are pretty low but I don't think they could decline to fix it even if you admitted modifying certain functions, as long as you don't do something wrong or open up the NAV unit itself.
