Negative. In stock form it has been able to handle up to a full ton of random cargo without any suspension trouble. I have no doubt it could have handled more weight, but I no longer had physical room.

If the HHR had some form of ladder rack on top, or if I had a Little Giant, I could do a lot more with it. But none of it is my choice, so I'll just take what I can get. If it were my choice, I'd put red painted steelies with chrome baby moon hub caps on it, eyelids over the rear taillights and add chrome bumper covers and fender flares, make it a real eye catcher.

I must say, though, it makes a very decent work vehicle if you don't do anything heavy duty. The rear driver and passenger doors both open via factory releases located on the driver and passenger side dash and on the keyfob, and the built-in storage areas carry 98% of the parts I keep on hand for any situation (replacement transformers, power supplies, badge readers, access controllers, etc. etc.). The only things that won't fit are the ladders, spare 12v batteries, my cordless drill and my tool bag.
