Default Custom exhaust modification, this ok?

This is what me and my two step bros all did to our Tundras...

Go to the passenger side rear door, look under there where your exhaust is and you will see about a foot of pipe off your cat(going to the rear of the truck) there will be an o-ring clamp....remove the o-ring clamp....now the muffler and the few feet of pipe on both sides of it are just hanging from rubber grommets, there are 2 or 3 of them....there are a bitch to remove, but leave them on the exhaust...not on the truck so you don't lose them....now that that exhaust is off....put that o-ring clamp on the pipe where it was on the removed piece of muffler pipe, tight enough to hold it on there loosly.

So you just removed your exhaust, and did it in a way that it is simple to reinstall with no extra work to get it back on....if you ever decide to.

If you leave the pipe on the truck like it is, it will be too loud and on the highway alsmot deafen you.

I forget the diameter of the pipe, you can measure yours, go to NAPA, Shucks....whatever you ahve and buy a 2' exhaust pipe in the same diameter and also get a 45 degree turndown(almost a foot long) that is the same diameter. Also buy one of those things that supports an exhaust pipe....it goes around the pipe and the other end you'll screw into your truck to hold it so it wont put stress on your headers from bouncing all over. Also get 2 U-bolt clamps....1 part is a U shape and the other goes ontop and screws onto the U, slightly larger diameter than the pipe, so it will fit around the pipe kinda loosely. Those 5 things should all be next to each other in the store.

Take the 2' pipe and the 45 degree turndown to any local muffler shop and ask if the can "swedge" both ends of the pipe for you, so that the 45 degree turndown fits in both ends of the pipe. Just deep enough so that the turndown fits inside the pipe a few inches....not too deep.Do NOT swedge the turn down, that is what you brought to "test fit" to see if it fits inside the swedged pipe.

The rest is easy.....the swedged pipe fits on the pipe where you removed the exhaust. The U-bolt clamp goes on the pipe to hold the existing pipe and new pipe together. The turndown goes inside the end of the swedged pipe....I think angling it halfway between the side and the ground sounds the best. Throw the other U-clamp on there to hold those 2 pipes together. Now put the support thing around the swedged pipe, in about the middle of the pipe, and have it pointed up towards the bed of your truck and find a place to use an existing hole with a bolt and nut, held tight enough to support the weight and you're done.

I don't know if you need to disconnect and then reconnect the battery so your computer redoes itself or whatever....but someone told me I should do that so I did.

Now it's louder, but not too loud....and sounds alot better.

My step bro explained it to me....now that the K&N Cold Air Intake allows your truck to breathe better, removing the exhaust....or getting different exhaust.....allows the truck to push that air out faster....which is good(according to him).

Just wanted to see if that sounds ok to you guys. I'm a computer guy, not a gear head :P

For $12 it sure sounds better and with the K&N and the exhaust I can tell a difference.
