2. purchased flowmaster 70 series, single 3'' out, my immediate thought after about four days, was the drone and lack of power compared to stock. this muffler incerted in place of the factory muffler, using the stock tail pipe i thought it would be close to stock performance, it was not and this was an error on my part, blame it on lack of knowledge. the flowmaster guys o me that i needed to run the muffler in ( miles) then the tone would change some, along with the ecu adjustments. back to stock.

3. purchased the zoomers, no need to experiment here, a little too rhowdy for a 57yo. had i installed a resonator behind the muffler, it may have toned down some but there is some drone in the zoomers, although it did perform well, item was returned.

4. purchased the JBA, rightoff i felt the need to tone it down, low end was less. so i installed my left over resonator behind the JBA muffler, since i had an old zoomers tip from nissan titan, i installed it also. it sounded really nice, but just was not pulling atleast at stock levels, to me. drove it atlanta, pulled a 5k lbs trailer back, not loud at all, cruising at 70 to 75 you could barely here it, only the up hill you mainly here it, because of downshifts. still not satisfied with performance, but the sound was near perfect, due to my alterations, sold it to a guy in houston. back to stock.

5. still is just to quiet for such a powerful engine, so i reinstalled my flowmaster, but this time i install a resonator (aero-turbine-AR-25) behind it using stock tail pipe. the reason for the 2.5'' resonator, was to reduce noise and speedup gases that were slown down by the 3'' muffler outlet, jackpot' the ECU started adjusting right off the bat, the low end response was there from the start, and it still adjusting itself. now i'm content. when i crank this baby up, mainly when cold, i just stand outside and listen and smile.
ther is no drone anywhere. 60mph cruising is like the factory system without the resonator, but on steriods, 70mph is the same but a little quieter.
bottomline, i love it, my ECU likes what i have done.
my major expense was the flowmaster muffler. i think if you are going to solve aftermarket exhaust problems, you have to think outside the box. hope this journey helps someone.
Firecrew,

What was your overall experience with the TRD exhaust? I've read, on different forums, 2 seperate people who dynoed their tundra with the stock exhaust and then installed the TRD the same day and dynoed the truck again and both gain a 4hp difference with the TRD.
