I really like look and sound of dumped exhaust on my previous trucks. i was thinking about going to my shop and moving the rear exhaust hanger (directly over the axle) a couple of inches back and cutting the stock pipe right after the axle bend and reinstalling the stock tip facing at an angle towards the ground.

i think the sound will be a little throatier which is great and of course will have the more resonance under the bed, but will I lose torque even by cutting this little bit of extra back pressure off??

thanks, Ben
You shouldn't lose any torque my doing that but as far as the sound there would be very little difference. I drove my truck around for a day with the tailpipe removed when I was in the process of changing my exhaust. If you want to change the sound you will need to change the muffler. Generally the smaller the muffler the louder the noise. Most mufflers can be purchased, on average, for around $100.00 plus whatever an exhaust shop would charge to put in on.

No, you don't have the TRD exhaust. The TRD is a dual exhaust and a $1000.+ option when purchasing the truck new. In a way, you would think that the TRD exhaust would be part of the TRD Option package but it's not.

A poor college student with a brand new full size truck?
