I ended up getting it off with large channel locks, that was a tight fit, it seems like everything is designed to perfectly get in the way of that.
I bought a 2 1/2" (65mm) filter wrench from autozone and it kept slipping so I had to use an adj. filter wrench and that was a major pain. It was all I could do to get that part loosened. I think next time I'll buy the KD wrench, the cheap china wrench isn't doing the job. Whoever is tightening that at the factory needs to use a torque wrench. I'm not sure how much 25 nm is but what I removed was at least 150 ft. lbs. John
