I typically don't buy them, because as you've said, there's an opportunity to buy one past the in-service date. I also don't know at purchase if I'm buying a lemon, so why dump a ton of money into extras that I won't get back if I have to dump or lemon law the car? I'll wait for 20K or so, assess my satisfaction with the vehicle, then decide of it's going to be around another 70K or so. Sure, I can drive a great deal in the finance office, but that 'great deal' might be a total waste, if I end up dumping the car.
Just my 2 cents - having actually 'lemon lawed' a car once, I reserve judgment until the car has a couple of years' use on it.
