I have an 02 Landcruiser with the 235hp 4.7l V8. It was either '03 or '04 that bumped the same engine up another 37 or so hp. How was that accomplished? With different programming on the chip? If so, can a later model chip be used to boost the power in my 02? Sorry for the novice question. Thanks!

Unfortunately, no. The increase is due to the addition of Variable Valve Timing, or VVTI. It's pretty much impossible to add to an older 2uz.
Your best bets are exhaust, headers, etc., but those are only marginal increases and aren't really worth it.
Besides, it's a land cruiser, it's meant to cruise.
