Yes. There is a wire that needs to be hooked to the parking brake. The NAV functions are not available until you depress the parking brake.
You can simply ground this wire to the vehicle chassis to fix the problem.

There are two other wires that need to be connected.
1) Reverse sensor wire
2) Speed/Pulse wire

Of course, you will need to attach the GPS antenna and mount it as well.
