I agree that the interior is not as nice, as say a LC. This being said, the deciding factor for me was not the frills (which, granted, are nice), but two other factors, which I guarantee to you 90% of the buyers hold more important, (i) the powertrain & drivetrain, and (ii) the interior flexibility.

Show me another vehicle at, even at $55K, that tops the Sequoia in its superiority when it comes to (i) and (ii) above, and I'll buy into the argument that a Platinum Sequoia is overpriced at $55k.

Also, I'm getting tired of all the talk about the NAV. Who gives a hoot if the NAV data is on HDD vs. a DVD. Do owners with DVD Navs have to insert a new disk each time they get into their vehicle? No. Are owners of either forms of NAV going to have to pay to have their map data updated if they want the latest and greatest info, be it via a new DVD or an upload? Yes.

I have a 2003 Infiniti G35 with a DVD NAV and I still find it plenty useful. Sure, it doesn't have real time traffic, a touch screen or voice commands. Guess what.....I still find it plenty useful for what a Navigation system is ultimately for....Navigation!

Also, the reason why Nissan, Mazda and other tier 2 japanese manufacturers provide additional frills (HDD Nav, HIDs, smart key, etc.) is to keep them competitive against the more established players. For eg. the Honda Accord and Camry easily outsell the Nissan Altima or Mazda 6, despite the lack of some of the frills. I'm not saying that Toyota/Honda and others should not step up with some of the gadgets, what I am saying is that they're able to outsell the others, without them. Begs the question of why?

By the way, I own a Nissan product (G35) and love it -- full disclosure before anyone gets upset that Nissan/Mazda were labeled at tier 2.
Many people give a hoot because with Toyota the Refinement on Navi is not there period I hated the 07 Avalon system Yuk what a Pos.Hdd is vastly superior on the Multitasking properties and multimedia storage on the system drive.Hdd delivery from Mapping down to 12 million PoI and Ipod like storage on your Music Library on The drive makes this one of very best system's to date because of storage and not carrying cd's is also nice factor.Go Test out a Lexus Ls/Pathfinder armada with Xm navi traffic/hdd sometime and report back your finding the sofeware is finally making it's way in Toyota yet Nissan and the other's had this a wile now. You are expected to pay for Xm Navi services but Navigation work's without the feature.Xm navi traffic mainly show's hot spot's and problem area large cities only otherwise if you don't live in there not an issue on having this at all. Also updates on mapping sofeware on Hdd are Dvd based stick on the mapping sofeware pay the $250 update and your done But you don't have to kept the dvd's nor loss them built into the system or have an east coast and west coast edition like dvd based system's.

"hold more important, (i) the power train & drive train, and (ii) the interior flexibility" Yet your missing one important aspect interior feature's and overall economics's.Yes your post is most correct on not finding an SUV in this class that top's Seq power train & drive train but there are many in this class who are very close to exceed Toyota yet offer better interior amenities.I'm sure Toyota will be topped very soon that's expected in this market but Typically Gm outsells Toyota on large scale Suv's wile Sales on these rig's in general has gone down due to the price of gas (as one member pointed out).

I think it's great you own a Infiniti G35 that is a great product by the way least your not brand Loyal and buy Toyota for everything.Speaking of brand loyal my parent's started me off on the whole Toyota deal but they ditched them on the last new car.My Mom got a brand new 99 avalon which she still has and enjoyed this time around but purchased a brand new 2 door Ex Honda accord with Navi. Yes she looked at Bmw and even Toyota but a little put off on the Navigation from them as i know what to expect there too. My mom works in Investement restate (Banker) and need's a car that you can type your information in and drive to your route Toyota didn't provide that on the new Avalon which is Non Touch screen and lacked bluetooth on the 06/07 model
Yes people very much do review these options afterall Utlity is most important because you spend a lot of time inside your car too sadly for us city folks
