I have been to the boat yard many times. In my business I am lucky to around the water a lot in the summer. I have never seen one Toyota Sequioa hitched to a boat and I work near the shores of Lake Ontario, Erie, Muskoka Lakes, Superior, Muskoka lakes etc in the summer as well as close to some family and horse ranching areas. While I have never seen a Lx470 hauling a boat I had seen a couple LX470 with a small horse trailer. Most serious boat owners will haul with a full size HD crew cab pick up. The 10,000 lb towing of the Sequioa is actually artifical as you need to be alone in the rig to usually haul that much.

In other words you've never towed a boat, never towed a horse trailer, never hauled a part of a team to a soccer match. Just because you pass a vehicle towing a trailer on the highway it hardly qualifies you as having personal experience in towing or hauling kids around on the weekend. Obviously these experiences would be new in your personal environment. Is an SUV really the right vehicle for you?

As for campgrounds, I have seen a few Sequioa and pretty much everything else at the grounds so big deal. Never seen a Sequioa with more than 4 people in it.

As I said, unless you've towed a camper to a campground you really have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to towing a camper.

Thank you for admiting that it is NOT a luxury vehicle but in fact a blue collar SUV with some leather and a few extra features that are considered an upgrade. The Corolla has a push button start (which the Sequioa needs), leather interior, dual HVAC and heated seats....does that make it a luxury car.

Actually I never said the Sequoia was a luxury vehicle. In fact IMO there is no such thing as a luxury suv. Its an oxymoron specifically designed to separate gullible folks from their money. I don't view the LX, RR, Cayenne or LC as luxury vehicles either. They're simply utility vehicles with amenties that either meet my needs or don't.
My DXL had luxury features and the ability to tow that made it a great vehicle for my recreational needs and provided many conveniences that make life a little more comfortable. The LX is no more luxurious IMO than the Sequoia. All the features that matter are available in the Sequoia and the silly things you find luxurious like 300+ air vents and 15 climate control zones in the LC are downright moronic if you think these features qualify the LC as a "luxury" vehicle. To praraphrase a past US Presidential candidate.... I've owned many luxury vehicles and the LC and the LX do not meet the standard.

The deeply recessed guages were a huge error on Toyota's part which will be correct on the mid cycle refresh.
|
That's a reasonable POV however I happen to like the recessed gauges particularly on bright days when combined with the Optitron guages. Very crisp gauges to my eyes when the 2 are combined together.

Also, the Navs system is from yesterday's vehicles and really is not integrated with the HVAC.
|
Have to disagree...BMW learned the hardway that trying to combine too many device controls into a single interface is a bad design. Folks want simplicity when controlling temp and fan controls. Nice big knobs that are easy to find and manipulate. Caddy learned this lesson the hardway as well with multi-function buttons. I firmly believe in the KISS approach to controls.

Large door opening are great but really a bad idea in a cramped parking lot.

Get a minivan and you'll avoid this issue. Given that you don't tow anything perhaps a minivan is a more suitable vehicle for your needs. There must be a manufacturer that makes a minivan with 200-300 vents that will have you convinced that in reality its a luxury vehicle.

Big mistake on the 2nd row split captains chairs.

Perfect for my needs however I do agree that offering an optional bench seat with heat controls would have been a smarter approach for the Platinum. But it meets my needs so I'm OK with it.

Big mistake on the 2nd row split captains chairs. That is one of the biggest gimmicks in SUV history.
|
Actually I think that award goes to the LX with a Crawl feature that'll never get used and cameras that look around the corner that will probably cause more accidents than it prevents from drivers watching video screens instead of looking out the damn window. Now those are 2 of the biggest gimmicks ever foisted on customers.
Before you know it, Toyota will be offering free 15ft posters of giraffes for new LC buyers to place on the wall of their garages. This way they can come home from a hard day at work but still get the refreshing sense of just finishing an African safari in their new LC instead of the drudgery of the daily commute home.
