When I fill up. I usually have about 8-10 litres when the pumps first clicks. Perhaps this is what is throwing you off?

Uhhhhh...don't you mean 2.5 gals? You do understand that 99.999% of the readers of this forum are Americans and measure their fuel in terms of gallons not liters (BTW its spelled "liters" not "litres").
