In the photos it looks like there are some bolts missing from the C-brackets, didn't it come with them? That is usally the reason for the holes being drilled in them.

I would also be interested to see what would happen to your lift after you throw 1000lbs in the bed and drive around with it for a day. My guess is that it will settle down a little more and you might loose that face down 1" in the rear.
