I took advantage of the opportunity to get the taller Toyos, which I wanted for off-road ground clearance.

The Toyos have noticably quicker steering response on the highway than the BFGs did. The wider BFGs had better grip on lower speed (20-30 mph) low traction corners.

I only have 3K miles on the Toyos, but so far I like them better than the BFGs. Still, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the BFGs to anyone as long as they understood their limitations.

If the Toyos wear as well as others have reported, I will probably choose them again when it's replacement time. Other tires on my short list are Dick Cepek and MT 305/70/18.
I have had my BFGs for about 2500 miles and I am starting to worry that I will only get 30-40k out of them. I just dont feel like replacing four tires at $350 a piece every 50k miles.
