Default Re: Heater quit... sort of

This is a great forum and glad I searched for this fix before bringing it in for repair... What an easy fix ....I just re-soldered the connections, and put it all back together again...I also cranked down on the nut that secures the knob to the switch as I believe there is too much "play" when the knob is turned from cold to hot and the back and forth motion over the years wears the little brittle wire right out of the "cold" solder joint... it didnt look like the factory did a very good job with this connection at all.. anyway, it took 45 minutes from start to finish. I cannot believe this would have cost me nearly $1000!!! My symptoms were a little bit different than others because my heat was stuck on HOT and it could not be shut off no matter what....even with the fan in the OFF position I was still getting lots of heat!! fixed it right in time before summer... great site!!!
