I did the XM equivalent about a month ago. Below is a link to the radio removal instructions from the ebay seller I bought my kit from. You do remove a few console and dash sections, most of which are held in place by clips. I started at the bottom where the center console meets A/C controls and worked my way up. Pulling the radio out was just a few screws worth of work.

The bigger PITA was routing the antenna wire since I wanted mine on the roof rather than on the dash. I actually tried the dash for a couple weeks but the roof mount made a huge improvement. There's a good source on this forum for routing the antenna wire.
