Default Re: DIY: How-To-Enable DRL – 2007 Tundra

Question?

After looking at your wiring diagram and the ones from Toyota involving the Headlights, Turn signals, and ignition circuits. I see that you are trying to get a voltage signal from the "Green" headlight wire to the relay so it will "Turn" off when the headlights come on, Correct? If this is in fact the case, it may be easier to just tap the "Blue" wire off the "DB" block at pin "18" from which power is fed from pin "8" on the ECU, this services the "Left" headlight. The right headlight is serviced by the "Red" wire at pin "16" on the "DB" block and pin "11" on the ECU. This circuit provides a voltage to the headlight relay, which then activates and sends the voltage through the fuse box and on to the "Green" wire for the left and the "Brown" for the right to turn "On" the headlights. Now, I'm not saying that its not easier to just run the wire through the firewall and tap the "Green" wire, I am just looking for a cleaner way. I have not been able to test this as the weekends have been rainy and I do not have the facilities during the week to do this. Has anyone or is there anyone who may be able to verify this? It may make this installation cleaner and a bit quicker if this works. There may also be another way to get a voltage to the relay to have it turn off the DRL when the headligts are on. Again, all I would like is NOT to have a wire running through the firewall up to the headlight.

Thank you
George
