Why else would the engine sound like a diesel? Oh I know, Toyota wanted it to sound like that right?

Not to say they didn't want it like to sound like that. More like the cost in which it would take to sound deaden a truck would come right out of our pocket books at time of purchase.
They do use assembly grease when building the engine. It's used on certain parts and it wears off very quickly, like before it hits dealer lots.
