Re: Highlander Hybrid water leak-LONG
Just an FYI to others who may read this... We had a VERY similar issue with our BRAND NEW, NEVER WRECKED 2006 Highlander Hybrid. The floorboards got SOAKED one day after having the "undercarriage" treatment done by a local autobell car wash. It FIRED the $4K NAVI and soaked the floorboards. The culprit..... A $0.05 plastic plug that is SUPPOSE to be in EVERY Highlander. Apparently, the factory doesn't install these but rather places them in the glove compartment. It is the dealer's DUTY to install these but dealer have commonly been tossing them aside as they didn't know where they belonged and there was no documentation as to what to do with them. We found out that they go IN THE FLOORBOARD of the Highlanders. The dealership that services our truck (EVERY service) is also the same one that sold it to us.... So, if your NAVI craps out and your floorboards are wet, it very well be an issue that (some in) Toyota knows about but others do not. This was all covered under warranty and ours is now perfect.... Oh yea, and we got the newer version of the NAVI so now I have to figure out if I can (somehow) activate the Bluetooth functions...
