Aftermarket ProductsDiscussions about aftermarket products and accessories.
This is a discussion thread titled "opinions on bugshield?", within the Aftermarket Products forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I am waiting on my third replacement Toyota bugshield (apparently delayed due to recall). I don't know what it is but they keep coming loose off the clips. When that happens they start to buzz and vibrate at speeds over 90kmh. Sucks!
I am not having luck with Toyota accesories. My side window vents wouldn't stay on so the dealer took them off. The rear window vent has had to be restuck twice now, I do question how well they are installing (ie last time they taped over existing tape...)

Just got my new Crewmax, and am looking for a bugshield with no drilling. I see a Wade on ebay, but it says some applications need self tapping screws. "screw" that. Let me know of any you guys have put on and if they needed screws. They all seem to look similar, any insight appreciated.
Look at the Lund. I have had one on my F-150 for almost 6 years and it has been great. Fits factory holes under lip of hood and has lifetime warranty against breakage - full no-cost replacement. Not a rub scratch anywhere.

Do you have a part number for the recalled bug shield?
or does anyone have a letter with a recall?? i want to make sure mine is o.k. but don't want to go to the dealer with no ammo.
It was confirmed today that Toyota bugshields have had a "stop shipment" order placed on them. They are redesigning it. No idea how long this could take.

so there is no confusion are we talking about the Toyota brand bug shield or the aftermarket brand Toyota sells. the form fit model??
I have never received a bug deflector fom Toyota that was not in Toyota packaging and said anything but Toyota on the bug deflector. That above package does not look like the Toyota one. If thats what I get from Toyota on the one I ordered I am not accepting it , guess we'll see.
I got one from Toyota, the factory OEM model, which does NOT say Formfit on it. It does say Toyota on it but in black letters so harder to see. It mounted ok and is working OK for now but it does seem to be coming loose just a bit. I will have to check it out at high speed and up close soon to be sure. Problem is that I ordered it from an out of state dealership over the web and I doubt they will want to issue a return shipping label and I don't have a big enough box to mail it back anyway. I might ask them to refund half the cost and I will just buy a new one from them when it comes out. Or I could ask the local dealer to take care of me since it is a recall. Does anyone have a link to an official document or story about the recall?
Here is the detail on my factory bugshield which includes lots of photos:
Note: I receive many messages about the NAV Speed Pulse Generator so I continue to build them for people on request. If you want one then just PM me via this forum and include your email address.
