Well when i graduate my dad is passing down his 2005 white toyota tundra, trd 4x4, 4 door, grille guard, nerf bars, bed liner down to me and I wanna add some mods to it. first off i want to add the tuff country 5" lift to it ...does anyone know anything about the tuff country lifts or have any pictures? also i want to add sometype of loud exhaust to make it sound really mean, i was thinking jba headers to true duals, high flow cats and flowmaster 40 series...anyone know how much that would cost and how it would sound? also which air filter adds the most power on the tundra? and do they make a programmer for the tundras? thx

for the exhaust i would go with just one muffler with dual outlet pipes. most say that the stock air filter is the best, so i wouldnt change that. but if you did i would recommend the trueflow.
My truck has almost every mod available right now. The only things I want for it now are JBA headers and the Unichip Flux Power programer (the only one available for Tundras). The exhaust will perform best as a single system with a new downpipe/y-pipe setup coming off the headers. One Flowmaster 40 series muffler and don't replace the cats. The '05 Tundras actually come stock with high-flow cats and replacing them will cost you atleast $120 each for true high flowing cats. You'll never notice a difference. Just be sure to get rid of the resonator. Those things act as secondary mufflers and restrict flow more then anything else (except maybe the stock y-pipe). The best pipe size for the 4.7L is 2.5 inches. If you think you'll really be pushing over 300 to 350 horsepower or more (which is unlikely without a supercharger or turbo setup) a 3 inch exhaust setup is as big as you want to go. If you setup your exhaust like I mentioned it will flow so efficiently a 2.5 inch exhaust will be the best way to go. Unless you have 300 to 400 horsepower a bigger pipe will reduce backpressure and your engine will not breathe as efficiently as it can. The heads require a certain amount of pressure on both the intake and exhaust valve in order to maintain the high compression ratio that enables these engines to put out the power they do. As far as intakes go Trueflow is the best. I have a Volant which truly impressed me but, I might switch to Trueflow very soon. Those foam filters are much more efficient and last longer (as long as they stay dry). Checkout my list of mods and if anyone has more specific questions I'm happy to help find the answer. I love researching this stuff, that's why it took me two years to build my truck the way I did (and over $10,000)

My check engine light never came on. It really doesn't have any reason to considering the o2 sensors are still installed in the same places and they are measuring the same air from the motor anyway. Plus I had my UNICHIP installed and retuned my ECU which is probably the main reason my light doesn't come on. It won't trip a fault unless the A/F mixture messes up

vip what do you mean you returned the ecu unit? to who?
the truck can not run on the unichip only.
the flux power display that used's a PDA isn't out yet for the 2005 tundra 4.7
by law you can't remove the cat's.
but lets say : just imagine you did, you can remove the cats if the 02 senors are than skrewed into the replacment straight pipe's.
than and only than the 02 senor's will not through a code.
i know a little about mod's, i have volant cai,jba headers, magnflow cat back and unichip.
plus a ton of other stuff.
maybe i am reading you infomation wrong. i'm not the sharpest tool in the shed.
