Aftermarket ProductsDiscussions about aftermarket products and accessories.
This is a discussion thread titled "Anybody have lojack? What did you pay?", within the Aftermarket Products forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
When I recently bought my Tundra, of course I got the hard sell for add-ons from the finance dirtbag. The only thing offered that piqued my interest was Lojack. I live in a metro area that rates among the highest for auto theft in the nation, and with relatively close proximity to the Mexico border -it's probably not a bad idea. I didn't buy it from the dealer, because at $695, I felt I could find a better deal elsewhere. I called Lojack directly and got a full menu of prices, with the base package being $595. The only places I know of around here that offer it are dealers and they pretty much all have it for the same price.
I searched around a bit on the internets and see people on various other forums mentioning that they were able to obtain it for even less. If you purchased it, what did you pay and where if you didn't get it from a dealer?
This seems like the most appropriate forum, but if not, mods please move.
i bought my truck in San Diego when i lived there, now living in Queen Creek going to ASU East. My dealer in El Cajon, CA straight up told me that if someone stole my truck, it would be in Mexico in a shipping crate before the lojack can get a good reading and that most guys just steal them, pop em in shipping crates because that material is too thick for the signal to go through. dont know how true that is, but i get the part about being in Mexico before they pick it up

My wife has it in her Honda Accord. Biggest waste of money ever. it doesn't buy me any discount with my insurance, and besides, if the thing ever gets stolen, I don't want it back anyways.
All a man really needs for happiness in this world is a good woman, a faithful dog, and a big-a$$ed set of tires on his truck.

Hello check into a car alarm that has add-on GPS, I have a Viper model that has a GPS tracking, if car is moved, or alarm goes off you receive a phone call telling you what is going on. Also you able to track vehicle.
Good Luck
