Aftermarket ProductsDiscussions about aftermarket products and accessories.
This is a discussion thread titled "Katzkin Upholstery experience?", within the Aftermarket Products forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I purchased Katzkins about two months ago for my 2007 Tundra DC and I would like to save the $600 install charge so I was thinking about doing it myself. I have no upholstery experience at all but i am a fairly handy person. Does anyone know if this is possible for the average person to do. I am sure there are some uphostry how-to articles on the web.
If any one has experience or advise either way I would appreciete it.
Thanks

if you're handy person then I'm sure you can do it, it will just take some more time. I'd say plan on the whole weekend, just in case. just make sure you get the installation kit

where did you get it from and how much?
could you post pics of the kit from a few sides?
Thanks for your advice and more so your confidence!
I can not post pics just yet as they are at an upholsters and have been sitting at an upholsters for about two months. (part of the reason I want to do it myself) I think I will go pick them up, and then I will post pictures.
I got them from autoseatskins.com and I am not aware of an istall kit or where I would get one.
thanks again

I tried the back seat a couple of days ago and everything went well and so I did the whole truck. It took about 16hrs. I used zip ties and pliers, and a few screwdrivers. The hardest part was all the pulling, my fingers have never been so sore.
