Default Utility rack for a shell?

I've seen a few trucks with bed caps (shells) and the utility type truck racks bolted to the tops. These aren't the type that fit over and around the shell and attach to the rails, but rather they bolt to the top of the shell with four or six small feet. Anyone know who makes these? I've been searching and can't find any. And any thoughts from owners of these types of racks would be appreciated as well.

Thanks

Try a search for Thule or Yakima.
Maybe they are what your talking about.
Check out Leer's website for pics of the Thule on a Leer.

Default Re: Utility rack for a shell?

These shell mounted racks I've seen extend out over the cab a bit, like a regular bed rail mounted utility rack. Thule and Yakima don't have these. I don't see them on the Pro Rac site either. Maybe they were one-offs made by the trucks' owners, but they look professionally built and I've seen a few of them. I'll have to try and chase one down next time and ask the owner.

Still looking.

Lightbulb Re: Utility rack for a shell?

I have the Thule set up on my Leer top ( check out my gallery for pics). It works perfect for holding my ladders, but I would get load stops as well if I were you. I can't remember the weight load, but I've put a 12' fiberglass A-frame and a 24' extention ladder with no problems. What were you thinking of putting up there?
