This is a discussion thread titled "My recent experience with camburg", within the Aftermarket Products forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I gave them 5 months to make things right, and to not have to post this...
************************************************** *****
1: 1G a month ahead of time to get parts in...no big deal
2:had to call mutiple times after they had my money to get truck in...really not a big deal.
3: After the truck was in there they said 3 days, ended up being 8 days...inbetween all that they told me they didn't have the right springs and could not find the axles...(what did i give them a 1000 bucks ahead of time for?)
4: Finally pick the truck up on a monday night around 10pm, and no lights & blower motor for heater or ac does not work ...and no limit straps were put on (a pretty big deal)
5: Truck goes into toyota dealership to fix light & blower motor...i played stupid and it all got fixed for free (no big deal...or is it)
6: truck goes back a week later to have the 600lb springs swapped out for 700lb springs & limit straps put on that they forgot to do the first time & the truck finaly alighned. (no big deal...(just my time without the truck once again & my only vehicle)
7: They ****in trashed all my stock parts...after i told them just leave the the co's in the back seat & i'll pick the rest up when i bring the truck back for the alignment. I didn't want the truck parts sitting in the back of my truck at night over there.
8: After all said and done i started to notice a sqeek / grinding noise...took a look underneeth the truck and they lifted a 6k truck up by my custom made aluminum skid plate & bent it all to **** (****in idiots!) bent it all the way up into the front diff mounts.
After all this being said there are minor details that were left out (that don't benefit burg at all. Not 1 ****in apologie for any of it...only 1 month later after me & jerry had it out over the phone did he apologize. I was not looking for any compensation other than my stock parts back, but didn't even get that back (****ing bull****)
9:Will i ever buy another thing from burg? (no)...will i ever let them touch my truck again? (**** no!)
With all this being said...things should not turn out this way with the amount of money i spent with them.
Oh ya, first day out with new suspension both lower control arms are dented due to solid mount bump stops that are way to long. Not just my guess, was told by a couple different suspension companies.
Wow, that blows...I'm glad hat I didn't go with camburg for my COs and UCAs....I was leaning heavily towards it. You'd think that they could be more pro about it. I ordered my parts from ORW and had a local susp shop install them...took 8Hrs (SAW COs, AAL, dif drop, TC UCAs)...no issues. If that's how camburg's shop and customer service run...hell, I actively pay more money sometimes, just for better customer service.
You need to elevate the situation beyond the mgr you've been dealing with.

The sad part is I was dealing with Jerry, one of the owners. This is the 2nd truck i have built with them & last.
Guys there is two sides to this story... Lets just say Ian is not telling the truth. It is easy to read one post and come to a conclusion. Here is the rest of the thread on socaltundras. Long Travel Issues - SoCalTundras.com
If you take your truck off-road and drive it to hard or jump it you can cause damage. This is the case. i have tried to help him and he is imposable. In almost 12 years as Camburg this is a first. I guess we can't make everyone happy. I do try hard!
Ok Jerry fair enough...read the whole thread on there. Sounds like you've been attentive and tried to cater to him. Tough to solve a problem when you can't see the truck....especially when dealing with a high-maintenance customer. makes sense to set it up how he said he was going to drive it...my shop asked me the same questions when they set up my susp. I told them "Fast driving through terraced pastures, no jumping, but using a lot of range in the susp. Still need to be able to haul at the truck's current capacity. Occasionally driving up and down earthen dams so clearance is important. I also spend a lot of time on pavement driving a lot of miles" They set up my susp to compromise between all the scenarios that I'm using it in.
As for the situation, I no longer have an opinion, sounds like Camburg couoldn't resolve the issues of a high-maintenance customer...tundrainorange, nothing is bomb-proof, play nice...seems like Jerry has.
At any rate

Ufortunatly there is more to the story, after Jerry said to bring it down so he could look at it, i did. Not once did he even look at it...what did i go down there for? After about a 1/2 hour of him arguing with me i tried to walk out before things got worse, he continued to follow me out and continue to agrue with me & fliping me off...that is a great business man!
Anyways Jerry why would you call me on my way home if you didn't feel guilty about somthing.
hmmmm. Just read that thread over at socaltundras. I have yet to hear a simple answer to some questions:
1) After Jerry asked to see his truck(2 days ago at socaltundras), tundrainorange brought his truck in and says Jerry didn't even look at it.
Is this true or false????
2) Valving and springs aside, it seems his problem is with the bumpstop setup. So arguing setup doesn't get you anywhere, concentrate on the bumpstops.
3) Seems a 10 minute show and tell would solve this. Before he brings in his truck, tell him EXACT measurements of when his poly bumpstop should hit compared to his air bump. Should it contact the arm 1/2" before the air bump bottoms? 1/4"? 1"?
-- Give him the answer over the web. He can test this in his garage with a simple jack and tape measure. I suspect he doesn't trust you, so this will let him do his own research with YOUR provided specs.
-- If he finds his measurement does NOT match yours, well then he can bring in the truck and you guys can measure it and see if you agree. If you guys made a mistake, then you already said you'd replace the arms free. Sounds good.
-- If he finds his measurement DOES match your spec., then it comes down to a simply diagreement on the design of the bumpstops.
I can fully see why you'd want the poly bumpstop to bottom first. If you bottom the air bump first , then the poly bump would have no purpose. But from the pics at socaltundras, it seems Ian's setup has the poly bump setup to hit way early. I know you mentionted geometry, but looking at it: The airbump bottom would need to be LOWER than the poly bump just to get the same bottoming position because the poly bump is spaced further out on the arm.
See, this is why I stick to dirt bikes in the desert. Much cheaper in the long run.
/Mike

I agree. Too much emotion and "he said / he said" and conflicting view of all the events to ever know what the real deal is.
this is true and arguing over the internet is like racing in the special olympics ... but the fact of the matter is what can be done now? I think Ian needs to cycle the suspension for himself and see whats up.

sway-a-way and donahoe are the way i would go. But from reading both sides of the story i see not only is tundrainorange the only person to have issues with the people at camburg.

A REAL truck.
Seeing as how I'm in this late, I'm taking Jensen and Shelby's cue and kicking everyone off the bandwagon for now. Got my two dollars all cued up, tho...
