Default helper springs?

Anyone have experience with the helper springs for rear leaf springs? They attach to the top of the spring and are supposed to add capacity, about $35 or so most places. My boat really lowers my truck in the rear and looking for an inexpensive fix.

Helper springs do not add capacity. They do level your truck when a heavy load is carried.

You can get an additional leaf as you describe, or rubber springs, or "Roadmaster Active suspension," or air lift bags.

Contact TS Preferred Vendor Carson Toyota for additional leaves.

Timbren rubber springs:

Does your boat have too much weight on the tongue? 10%-15% of the total trailer weight on the tongue is good.

thanks. Not looking for extra capacity. No, the tongue weight is OK, just the typical soft Tundra rear spring to deal with makes my headlights shine upward along with other symptoms

The add-a-leaf springs SURE did help me out.

Heres a link with some info: Anyone want the Add-A-Leaf kit from Carson?

Heres another one: http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...threadid=13539

Don't know about the helpers, but I did an add-a-leaf and an anti-sway bar - truck tows so nice now. Drives better with a boat on the back than most other cars.

I just installed the TRD add-a-leaf springs I bought in the fall from Carson Toyota. They raised the top of the rear bumper 3/4" from stock TRD height (from 29 3/4" to 30 1/2") and give a lot more carrying capacity. They make a BIG difference. I was bottoming out frequently with a full load of rafting/camping gear and three adults headed to Utah for a river trip. I wish I had installed them prior to the trip. I've got a lot more capacity now.

I also have the Hellwig anti-swag bars. The combination works well.

When installed the add-a-leaf springs I used the stock "U" bolts because the ones supplied did not have tight enough bends to hold the bump stop (on top of the spring stack) in place tightly. The stock "U" bolts DO have enough thread to accomodate the extra spring, but barely!

They also help the headlight issue you mentioned by raising the rear bumper a bit.

Cheers, NWTundra

well, this is not a cheap fix but I put SuperSprings on my 2003 Tundra and I love them. They have a roller devise on them that allow the springs to only kick in when there is a load present. They sell for $250 to $350 and come in a 2000lb and 3000lb models. I got the information on SuperSprings.com. I've had ALL the other types and I really like these the best as they do not stiffen the ride or raise the truck. Hope this helps.
