Yeah the owner said he would honor the original quote of 499 for the 5901 as i have already paid for it as i was picking my truck up today before i was even shown the remote, as soon as i saw it red flag went off. I will speak to the owner next time i go in and see what he'll do as i wouldnt mind some power window up modules or the proximity sensor =]. thanks for the input guys at least i can think clearly now.

That's about all this type of comment is worth .00...........
Some people are too scare to speak-up so they keep quiet like above and let other people mistakes slide. I'm glad you didn't listen to him.Keep us updated !
As you can see, I've had some issues with the 5901 myself. I made an account here not because I'm a Tundra owner but because I wanted to chime in on this discussion.
Anyway, please post back here once you get the alarm installed and let us know how things are. I am under the impression that you and I are the only ones on the face of the earth with this remote start system installed. I'd love to know if you have any of the same issues I have.
Welcome snowballz ! I'm anxious to hear your reviews of the 5901 also. I was thinking about buying the 5901 but I don't like to buy ,new to the market, electronics unless I hear good reviews.I have the 5900 with absolutely no problems, so unless I read stella reviews I'll be buying another 5900 for my other car. Thanks !
about to purchace the 5901 soon to but waiting to here reviews

Yes, a very good idea to wait on reviews... I decided to skip this in my hunt for a new remote starter, and now I'm stuck with a problematic system.
I can't say as of now if the problems I am having are due to a poor install or a poor product. I really can't imagine Viper releasing a bad product.. I too had the 5900 and it was practically flawless.
Hopefully soon I can post back here and let everyone know that my problems have been resolved as my shop is ordering me a brand new one.
I will be chiming in soon, my installed said they received my 5901 today and i made an appointment to have it installed on saturday. Yes, it does seem like nobody on earth has this thing yet lol. I will definitely go over the system when i get back to my house and post some initial thoughts on it. After a little bit of time using it i will see if there is anything i can complain on about it, or praise it for. Oh and hopefully it will be installed right because one of the installers at this place also has the 5901 i noticed on his keychain, so we shall see.

Wow, that's a good sign if someone there has it installed on their car.

Yeah dude.. Mistakes do happen.. but when your in business, and your being paid to do a job right, you do not have the freedom of making a mistake. If you do make a mistake, its your job to make it up to the customer. I don't know about you, but my time is precious. Its a royal pain in the butt for me to take my vehicle and drop it off somewhere for the day. It requires me to get my wife or someone else to take time and drive me, then drive me back. I usually miss some work. When i'm having something done to a vehicle, I understand that this is something I must do. But when I have to do it a second time, at the fault of the retailer??!! That then means that they are costing me more money and time then I signed up for. Put it this way.. what if you were an hourly worker that had to take time off to bring your vehicle in. THe first time, you plan for it. But the second time, you have to take another couple hours from work to get the vehicle in and out. What if you made $30-40 per hour, or more? All the sudden this is costing you an extra $100 maybe, plus time, plus stress. Its GARBAGE if you think your not then responsible for costing me that money, as a retailer that made a mistake. Its unfortunate that you think I would be an a-hole because I had to spend an extra $100 or whatever, to get my alarm installed properly. I would think the retailer would be clearly in the wrong by not automatically offering me something for my extra time, money and inconvenience. It doesn't need to be exactly what I lost.. but an extra 20 bucks, a gift card, some gum.. ANYTHING to show me that you screwed up, and understand the fact that you just cost me more money and wasted time out of my life to bring my vehicle back to you for an entire day. Its just good business.
Anyway, onto thread topic. Yeah, i want one of these 5901's too! I'm swaying back and forth between the 5501, which is just the remote start without an alarm. I've never had an alarm, and don't really see the need where I live.. but it may be worth it to have. I just hate all the chirping, and false alarms that can go off with alarms. Maybe that technology has gotten much better though.

I would highly recommend you get an alarm !! With the equipment we have in our cars now and the money they can get,it's just a matter of time before they get you.You may live in a nice neighborhood but If you frequent malls, grocery stores, restaurants, departmant stores, travel out of town, you need one. When thieves are looking to steal they want the easiest car to enter and guest what type of car that is,the one without an alarm.
Yeah, that's a good call JRE56.. I pretty much decided the same thing. There are no Viper dealers in my area.. or in my entire state it seems (vermont). THere is a local clifford dealer, and they seem to have a system that is identical to the 5901.. its the Clifford 50.7x.. really, its like an exact copy. I wonder if they are made by same manufacturer? At any rate, they don't have them in stock. I read also that clifford did a recall on some of these already due to a faulty antenna. I can only hope that if clifford hasn't released theirs yet, there may be some additional bug fixes in it.

Thanks again for the input.
Yeah, Direct Electronics make Clifford & Viper so you're basically is getting a Viper with a few cosmetic changes.Back in the 80's my car was broken into 3 times so I decided to buy a cheap alarm.Well the 4th time they tried to brake in the alarm went off and since then I haven't had a problem and since then I'm sold on having an alarm. I know an alarm won't entirely keep the bad boys away but to me, in this world, it's better to have and not need than to need and not have.
Yeah i decided to get an alarm finally after all these years just for peace of mind (boston reference :P). Also im eventually going to have audio components in my truck. The first is the headunit which im waiting to have installed soon and there is no way i would want something to happen. I have known enough friends who have had there audio stuff stolen/truck broken into in the past. Even though i live in a "nice area" its still not worth the risk imho.

I have no clue if im getting the defrost function. ALRIGHT so now I am thoroughly F%#&%# pissed off with this place. It is bad enough to install the supposed wrong alarm in the first place. So at almost exactly 12 noon today, i am awoken to the phone call from the owner Steve of Steves Professional Glass Tinting & Auto Security. Mildly relieved to finally have thought that i can finally be done with this BS in the first place, the owner proceeds to say that my truck is ready and that there is another problem. WOW im thinking i can only guess that they installed the wrong one again. Sure enough he continues that they installed the wrong one which is the viper 5501 remote start without security. He claims that when he placed the order for the supposed 5901's he ordered the wrong thing ie the 5501's. I tell him how much stress and serious inconvience this has loaded on my schedule and no matter what i have said to him in person or over the phone the only answers he can give me are "im sorry" "im very sorry" "yes i understand". So going to pick my truck up in about an hour and im already heated as it is. Either i'm going to have to force him to completely refund the purchase price and take my business elsewhere. Or im going to need some hookups and seriously explain to him that infact will spread his businesses name like a bad habit.
