    Default Line-X Question

I'm having my truck(Crewmax 08') bed Line-X'd and I thought I read somewhere in here about certain things you should request them to do before you give them the green light ti Line-X the bed.

I wanna say there was a thread that mentioned removing bed bolts/brackets and possibly the tailgate done seperately?

Does anyone have any info on this? What should be done before the spray is actually applied to prevent any future headaches?

    Thanks.

Line-X took my tailgate off and masked and did seperatly.(sp) I let them go right over the bed bolts because I wanted the protection and I don't think I'm going to be pulling the bed off anytime soon.

They guys that did mine took out the bed bolts, bed rails and the panel on the tailgate. They did the panel separately so I could access the area inside the tailgate. I had them spray over the strap down points as they had had prior experience with the paint on the bolts chipping when they were removed. I think it looks fine being overspreayed. Hope it helps.

Just had mine done with line-X Xtra. The removed the bed bolts and the panel to the tailgate latch. The tie downs in the corners they did not remove but removed the adjustable tie down and the plastic bed rails.

Don't panic if they don't take the bed bolts out since after a few winters they become more of a ***** than chipping the line-X off. Hope that helps. I actually was told they would cover my bed bolts but to my surprise the didn't. Not a big deal to me so I let it slide.

The shop that did mine removed the bed bolts, tailgate screws and the four tie hooks in the corners of the bed. I meant to ask them to do this but forgot but they did it anyway.

My buddy had his done at the same place and they went over everything. Not sure if they took extra time with mine because it was new or if they changed their techniques. Overall I'm very happy with the job, this stuff is hard as nails.

I just got a quote and they said they do not do over the bed rails on the tundra. Is this normal? Is it a big deal? I know I have read that some do get the bed rails sprayed. They quoted $425 under the rail and another $25 to remove/put back my tiedown rails.

The shop I went to went right up to the factory plastic side rails. I have seen other truck that went over the top and it didnt look as good IMO. Here is a pic of mine.

Echo6...I like that you left your tie downs white instead of being line-x'd. I was debating about leaving mine blue, but after seeing your picture I am definitely going to keep them blue. Looks sharp.

I highly recommend you consider spending a little more and get LINE-X Xtra unless you plan on getting a tonneau cover, then you really don't need it.

The plastic rail caps on Tundras and Fords should not have a bedliner product applied to them at all. What might have seen is perhaps a Chevy, for example, that does not have plastic rail caps and the bedliner was applied "over the rails".

Thanks for the kind word guys but like I said, I forgot to tell the shop to remove the bolts. They removed the bolts from the bed, the screws from the tailgate and removed the tow hooks on their own. If you want that done on your ride, let them know when you drop off the truck!
