How does every one justify the amount of $$$ they put into their rides to their significant others?Do you tell them after the fact(when the credit card bill comes),don't tell them at all,or come up with some lame excuse for why you need it?Whats your best keep secret or story?
Examples; my short list
supercharger {honey' better fuel efficiency} tonneau cover {the grocery's won't get wet when we go to the store} everything they can't see {why does your truck shift so hard ? (IPT upgrade) I don't know I'll have someone look at it}
anything else {What that's always been there!}
As long as my wife gets to spend the same amount on what she wants then I can pretty much spend what I want. It just ends up costing me twice as much!!!
Two years ago, I was trying to figure how to install my Bilstein adjustable shocks to do my lift & level without getting the missus all upset.
Then one day we were walking towards my truck in a parking lot. She saw my truck from a distance and asked "Why is the front of your truck lower than the rear?" referring to the factory rake.
Thinking fast, I turned up the bull$hit generator to maximum power and replied "That's because the front shock absorbers are wearing out. The weight of the engine is causing them to sag."
Her reply: "Well you better get that fixed. We can't afford to buy a new truck so we need to take care of the one we have."
"No problem, Honey. I'm off next Monday. I'll get it taken care of then.'
I usually pick something like the wheels I recently got. I just one day show her some pictures and see what she thinks. then I do it again in a few days. and again and again. then I do it nearly every day till she finally says to "just buy it already, if I see another picture I'm going to throw up!" Works like a charm. So far lowering kit, exhaust, rims, tires and a bakflip. She still doesn't know I have a airaid intake. Next on my list is a complete stereo entertainment overhaul (for the kids you know). HEHEHEHE So basicly I annoy the crap out of her with the stuff I want till she breaks. So far it has cost me a pair of leather boots for her and a portable dual screen dvd player for her van.

My Son keeps an eye on my spending more than I do. When there is something I want for the truck, he can't bring himself to complain, because of the ear to ear grin I have when I'm telling him why I want it

hahahahahaha, great idea for a thread unlimited.
I've done a lot of stuff without her knowing, most of the time the explanation would be beyond her knowledge of cars/trucks, so she doesn't want to hear it anyways.
Let's discuss the higher dollar more complicated things I say I "need".
URD Maf Calibrator, the one that I HAD to drive 200miles away to get it properly tuned by Gadget. Well, that one was the ole, "it's going to help the mpgs".
The N-Fab step rails, the one that showed up on the doorstep and the box was 3ft taller than her. She got home 2 hours before me that day and immediately called me asking, "Andy, what is in this huge box?!?!" I didn't even know it had showed up until she called. lol. I left work early, got home and said, "These are to help you get in the truck better baby."
I also get little things in the mail all the time, but I try and have them shipped to my work address. No surcharge for freight drop-offs at the store with the gigantic parking lot in the rear. And she doesn't see those all the time.
But for the most part, I tell her that I stash $20 per month for truck stuff, "It's in the budget honey." wahahha If only.

We talk about it and as long as it doesnt drain the Accounts, it usually gets done. I also save $$$ from side work from people here at TS and customers from friends who wont go to the dealer for work, and usually use that money instead.

I'm a bit of the same, except my significant other understands that I have 2 wives, one of which has 4 wheels.... we're still on the fence as to who is more important though.
I usually fund add-ons from a side account I keep for side work, plus since she got a new, better paying job last year, now she drops a couple hundred in there every couple of weeks to keep me going and out of the house account. Of course, we don't have kids, so that's the only reason that's possible. One day I'll wise up and not touch it for a while... of course, daddy likes his toys too much to do that.

I recently bought a pair of heated seats to install. I simply made sure I installed the passenger side first. Once she felt how toasty the buns were...no problem. And of course she wanted me to get the nurf bars to make it easier for her and the kids to get in. "Yes Dear"
