My air intake ships today, I've read that it doesn't fit snug against the hole in the fender well. What's the recommended fix action to ensure that your getting all cool air rather than it sucking in some of that hot air put off by the engine?

Well my cold air intake still hasn't shipped, autoanything advertised that it was available to ship this past monday, I called today and now they're saying that the item is on back order and won't be available to ship until this coming up Monday. B.S. I don't like that at all. If it doesn't ship Monday I'm going to ask for a full refund. I wouldn't mind so much if they would have advertised a later shipment date but I feel like they tricked me or something. You know what I mean?

Given the other choices, why Volant and why AutoAnything.Com?

well volant makes that particular cai especially for the 5.7 tundra. hell i don't know really, they're all about the same aren't they? Just less restrictive air flow? And i've had two good previous experiences from autoanything so I trust them and they ship for free and match anyone's lowest price. Why not autoanything other than this issue? I'm open for suggestions. If it doesn't ship tomorrow i'm gonna ask for a refund and if you know of a better CAI and website I'll look into that. thanks

Well I called yesterday to see what the business was with my CAI. It finally shipped yesterday afternoon from chilly Ontario CA, will be curious to see how long it will take. Autoanything also refunded my military discount that I didn't get initially which was pretty cool. So all in all for a CAI that is normally around $377, after military discount of 5 percent and a 10 percent off sale price I paid around $323.

Well I got the CAI in today and installed it, I'm very happy with it overall, huge difference in throttle response. Gives my exhaust more of rumble too. Very nice. However upon installing i found a few flaws. The filter housing screw holes don't line up completely with the tubing that connects to it. I had to drill a hole to make the filter housing line up to the hole that mounted it to the truck. The actual intake hole doesn't line up exactly with the factory air inlet. Nothing that a little common sense cant take care of. I don't understand how a company can make a product specifically for a vehicle but can't perfect it before releasing it to the consumer. Whatev, I love it, you guys should get one.

Not a big fan of them and had similar fit issues on my 04 Dakota 4.7. A couple little things were missing from the box that were on the install diagram which I ended up fabbing because they never got around to mailing them out to me like I asked. Meanwhile even though it was missing something it needed there WAS a minor trim piece included that wasn't even installable in my application. No matter how I adjusted the tube and filter I ended up having issues with the tube clearing the pipes and wires underneath it. If I got it just right so I fixed this, the result would be that I couldn't get it adjusted to stick far enough through the airbox hole that the filter neck and clamp could go on there securely from inside the box. The filter neck didn't have a good hold so it kept popping off. I wasn't impressed considering all the hype and the costs.
Did as i was instructed here and Called Danny with Volant and he said all Tundrasolution members discount price of 300 bucks delivered to door. Took about a week and a half to get in, install was easy and only have a few hundred miles on it so far. So far pleased with it. It definitely gives a little extra ommph. As stated and documented on Toyota Tundra Accessories ~ Tundra Reviews | Tundra Headquarters . com they tested one and had an increase of about 9 rear wheel gain with the volant, almost identical as the Afe, but Headquarters gave the Afe a little better review than the volant.

zeeya2000 ,
you'll notice that if flows air much better. check out your exhaust tip. I have the Banks monster with a Chrome tip and its clear to see how only a little gets dirty as opposed to the whole thing being dirty when I had the stock intake on it.
I will have to clean mine up real good and watch it. Have the stock chrome extension on it and yes it was getting black around the edges and i only have 5300 miles on my truck. Curious now, will do and watch it and see if it stays clean of the black buildup around the edges. Thanks,
zeeya

yeah, my office is in Ontario, CA...so I thought that was pretty funny too, seeing how it's been near the 100's lately! Maybe that is chilly compared to Florida, since ours is a dry heat! LOL
