I purchased this MBRP Rolled Exhaust Tip from AutoAnything (AA), less than a month later the "powder coating" came off! After contacting AA (basically not much help, putting everything on the manufacturer...which is fine, but they should support what they distribute better), they told me that the MBRP will replace it with the new and improved tip.
Problem is that I spent time and money to have it welded on with an adapter, so I responded with a request for a refund. AA said that MBRP will do that if I destroy the tip and send them pictures of it . I know some of you are saying just paint it or get a cheap tip destroy it and send the pictures, but it is the principle and although I will not be satisfied with the outcome, I wanted to let you guys know my experience with both AA and MBRP.

Reason: Pics too big
I'm sure they have other products that are fine, don't mean to generalize MBRP, this may be a one time thing, but this is the first and only product I've had from them and I've never seen such poor craftmanship. I'm so pissed that they expect me to cut the thing off and destroy it with pictures...just seems really stupid to me.

Sure, then go ahead and re-embed them in your 1st post.
Photobucket has a resizer built in. Keep them under 800x600 for Tundra Solutions.

OK, maybe I'm a bit confused. They offer to replace with a better product, but since you decided to weld them on you want a refund. So they say yes to the refund, you just have to destroy what you have and send pictures. Am I correct in reading that you want the product AND a refund?
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like their customer service is rather decent. Most places would either say no altogether or require that you return the part for a refund.

I'm gonna agree with this guy. So what if they want you to destroy it? They even offered a refund? And you are pissed because they asked you to destroy it? So what. Rightfully, if they send you a refund, you should have to send them the defective tip, and most likely be out the shipping. If you are that upset, destroying it should have a therapeutic effect.
I have been using MBRP parts for years. They make some really good stuff for snowmachines. I am a fan of their stuff. Actually, I think their customer service is pretty good. You could have sent them pictures of a tip off anyones truck saying its yours and getting money for nothing..... hence why they want destroyed pictures......
Just to clarify...I understand that this may be a defected part that just happen to get on my first MBRP product (see my second post). I'm not looking for them to give me a replacement AND a refund, according to AA they offered a new tip, but at this point I don't have any confidence in their product, as such I asked for a refund instead (sorry for the confusion, I didn't add "instead" at the end of that sentence in the first post).
My issue is that I spent my time and money to add this to my vehicle (just like anybody else would), and now they want me to just cut off, destroy it, and take pictures...seems very odd to me.
AA has records of my purchase, but yeah, I guess if I was that motivated I could drive around until I found the exact tip as mine that is f'd up...sure, makes sense to me to spend >$200 in gas to get a $60 rebate.
"Imdone" thanks for the offer, but doing the black thing.
Not posting this to get into a pissing match with anyone, just putting down my experience with this company for general information. Thanks for the replies!

we are all sorry to hear about your problems, but what you fail to understand is that you want more than is considered fair or good customer service. We all want to be treated right, and warn fellow members about bad products/companies, but we also give credit when the credit is due.
nobody is trying to get into a pissing match with you either. We're just saying you want too much.
let me give you an analogy here: let's say I buy rear view camera for my truck. I spend hours to install it in the tailgate and then wire it up, only to find it doesn't work. Now I call the manufacturer and all they have to do is take it back and send me another working one. In fact don't even have to take it back for a full refund. They can offer exchange only and still have a great customer service. But I say no! I lost my valuable time installing it so I should just keep it (maybe even fix it) but get all my money back! Guess if I were the lawyer, considering how much their time is worth, I should be allowed to keep the product AND the its manufacturer should make my another truck payment!
And this is exactly what you're asking for. You can have an exchange or return for full refund (actually you only need to take it off and destroy it). But no, you want to be reimbursed for your lost time. You think you should keep the piece and get your money back. Boy, you're so wrong.
Hopefully my edit improve the file size with the pix. I also tried to change the title, so not to offend anyone...no luck with that one.

No one is offended, we just think that you are being unreasonable in your expectations. Anyone that has been in customer service knows that you cant please everyone. You are probably one of them. Thats ok. You feel the need to bash a company because you feel they made an inferior product. You told them that, they attempted to rectify the situation. You were still butt-hurt so you jumped on TS to bash a manufacturer.... problem is, we are all sensible people..... for the most part.....most of the time....
If I installed a camera, I'd check to make sure it worked before the install I checked the exhaust tip (blew through it) seemed to work just fine . It's more like if you bought a lift kit, had it professionally installed and found a defect...who should pay for the re-install?
MBRP sells this product as being powder coated, now maybe I'm wrong put I would not expect the exhaust tip to get hot enough to burn off the coating with very little use at that. My guess it wasn't powder coated
I understand that it comes off as bashing the Company, that's why I tried to change the title to say "I would not buy from...again"; I too am in customer service and understand that you cannot please everyone, but if my product had a defect, I would do everything to make sure that this particular customer was taking care of because ultimately it is my responsibility to provide said customer with a reliable product.
Sure they offered a new tip, but like I said, why would I go through the trouble of having the new tip installed when the first one failed?
Sure, I can take it off, destroy it, and send them pictures, but like someone said what stops them from saying that it wasn't the tip from my truck and not pay me?
Didn't mean to bash the company as a whole...my apologies, I just meant to share my experience so that other people are aware.
Send me a new tip and pay for my install...cool, done!

BTW, some of you are so quick to flame or categorize people that you didn't read my posts (mainly the 2nd one trying to convey that I understand this may be a one time thing, I don't know). Again, it's probably because I didn't title it right in the first place.
