This is a discussion thread titled "Clear Corners for 06 DC Tundra...", within the Aftermarket Products forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
SOooooo has every manufacturer forgotten about our 05-06 models? i am willing to bet they will come out with clear corners, headers, supercharger and programmers for the 07 models before we ever see those things for our trucks! I must agree BOO!!!!!
Has anyone come up with an update for getting clear corner lenses for our 05-06 models? i think i read somewhere that people are using or have tried 00-04 seqouia clear lenses that work in the 05-06 AC and DC tundras. Has anyone confirmed that works? Just trying to rejuivenate interest.
right now i ordered some tint film from ebay for the head lights, corners and rear lights. i just could not get them on properly so i have to take it to a tint shop.
i'd rather have clears or blacked out lenses....

here's what i did. i tried the whole oven thing and it came out good for the headlights but not the corners. rather than buy new ones i got this stuff called night shades by VHT. its basically a rattle can tint. i ended up doing my taillights too and am happy with how they came out. here's some pics. the corners are darker because i used 2 coats on them. i only used 1 on all 3 tails.
skylerIt, when you say you tried the oven thing does that mean you couldn't get the lense to separate from the housing? I was going to try and clear the factory lenses but if it didn't work mabe I'll just hold off.

I think that if you look back through this thread i wrote about my experience trying to seperate the lenses by the oven method. Basically i do not think i heated the lense enough and when i was almost all the way around pealing it off the corner cracked! If someone doesnt come out with a solution soon i think i will attempt the oven method again.
By the way Skylertl your taillights look great. i dig that smokey look! where did you buy the night shade product?
You can get night shades spray tint all over the net. If you dont want to order on line any motorcycle dealer with a parts unlimited catalog can order it locally for you.

so this oven thing is really to heat up the epoxy or whatever to separate the clear cover from the rest of the light housing? then just paint what you want matt black?
where does the amber get pealed off of on the corner lights?
anybody think of spraying their headlights with the VHT stuff?

the oven thing didn't work on the corners because i used too much heat and the corner lenses are too thin so it warped the edge. the headlights are thick enough that you can heat up the silicone and pull them apart. i got the vht from oreily auto parts. you have to order it but it only takes a day or two. and about spraying the headlights, i wouldn't do it. it would block out way too much light.
Alright guys and gals I have taken the liberty of contacting IPCW (an aftermarket lamp manufacture) to see if they could help us out and get some clear corners and mabe tail lights produced for our trucks.
If you would like to contact these guys as well drop them a note. After all the more we bug them the better our chances. The website is ipcw
enough is enough lets get there attention and some freakin clear lamps!!!
